J.Lo avoids legal action |
Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez has managed to avoid legal action after promising to reimburse promoters following her cancelled European and Asian mini-tour.
The Love Don't Cost A Thing star pulled out of a string of gigs in Mumbai (Bombay), India; Dubai; Moscow, Russia: Sofia, Bulgaria; Istanbul, Turkey; and Thessaloniki, Greece earlier this month without giving an explanation.
Following Lopez's cancellation, Bulgarian promoters Pick and More told the press they were teaming up with the rest of the promoters to sue Lopez, to retrieve the fees they paid her for the 23 July concert.
However, Lopez has now been in contact with the concert promoters and has vowed to reimburse them for any advertising expenses and supplies that were imported from the United States for her backstage rider.
Bulgarian promoter Ivaila Bakalova tells MTV, "She told us everything would be OK."

MTV Shows Off J. Lo's "Moves" |
MTV is impressed by Jennifer Lopez's "Moves."
The network has given the greenlight to a new dance-based reality series executive-produced by the multi-hyphenate diva.
In something of a Real World meets Solid Gold premise, the show will follow the lives of six aspiring dancers as they struggle to make it in the competitive world of professional dance.
The smooth-moving hopefuls include Staci, a former Pussycat Doll who wants to become a singer; Jersey, who hopes that her dance moves will elevate her out of debt; Nolan, who has struggled with personal problems to make it to where he is now; Blake, the cocky guy, who makes sure everyone is well aware of his prowess on the dance floor; Kenny, a former baseball player and heavy party animal; and Celestina, who thinks of dancing as the first step in building her own hip-hop empire.
"There are very few people who have attained the level of success Jennifer has. Across music, film and more, she is recognized worldwide, and it all began with dance," Lois Curren, MTV's executive vice president of entertainment and programming, said in a statement.
"Now she will share her experience and knowledge with a new generation of dancers and we'll find out if they have what it takes to stand up to her expectations."
Lopez, who took an active role in selecting the show's participants, is also slated to make cameo appearances over the course of the season.
"I started out as a dancer and I know what that world is," Lopez said in a statement. "These dancers have dedicated their lives to this and honestly, the glory is not always there. It’s something they do only out of love. It’s a tough life and I want to show that struggle."
The show's eight-episode run is scheduled to kick off this winter.

Could Jennifer Lopez really be pregnant this time? |
A report set to publish this week will reveal that Jennifer Lopez is pregnant. In Touch Weekly is claiming that although the star has not officially confirmed it, friends whisper that she’s three months pregnant and her baby will be born around Christmas.
 |
| In Touch claims JLo is pregnant |
The magazine cites an insider that gives a bit of detective like evidence:
--“She always colors her hair. “But Jen said if she got pregnant, she’d be so grateful, she wouldn’t care about roots.”
--“She won’t touch a sip of alcohol — she even turned down a glass of her favorite Krug champagne at a recent dinner in New York,” explains one pal.
---On May 8, the star canceled her world tour without giving an explanation. But a friend says it’s not a surprise. “She said that whenever she got pregnant she was going to do nothing but focus on her health and the baby.”
The magazine concludes that now that she is pregnant, Jennifer’s career is clearly no longer her top priority. She recently turned down a chance to star with husband Marc Anthony in a Las Vegas revue, say insiders. As their pal says, “It’s likely that they didn’t want to commit to the demands of a regular show while raising a baby.”

JLO declines Georgia's $500k offer to help their wine industry |
Pop diva Jennifer Lopez has scorned Georgian diplomats' pleas to help them rescue their wine industry.
The former Eastern Bloc country's wine industry is currently facing a crippling import ban from its neighbour Russia, its biggest consumer, and is desperately seeking new markets.
The government offered the American star US$500,000 to sing in the capital Tbilisi on Independence Day, May 26, to promote the country's wines.
The singer's refusal has embarassed the government of President Mikhail Saakashvili. 'I think our president likes Jennifer Lopez,' Soso Shatberashvili of the opposing labour party said. He added there was outrage at this offer of public money to a foreign star.
In March 2006 Russian health officials placed an embargo on Georgian and Moldovan wines claiming that levels of pesticides found in these products made them unacceptable for consumption.
The legality of this ban is under question but its impact is potentially catastrophic as Russia represents approximately 70% of Georgia's wine market, valued at US$63m in 2005.
Some commentators say that this is not about wine but about politics. One theory is that Russia is retaliating for the countries' opposition to its entry into the World Trade Organisation.
In the background to this antagonism simmer various other ongoing disputes, the legacy of independence from Russia.
'Everyone in Georgia expected Russia to do something like this,' said Tariel Giorgadze, vice president of the Centre of Economic Education and Development in Georgia. 'There was no way to avoid it.'
While looking to enter new markets such as China, Turkey and the USA, Georgia and Moldova's top priority is to restore their Russian wine market. Meanwhile, the embargo and debate continue.

JLO rethinks doing "Dallas"; changes talent agencies |

Jennifer Lopez is having second thoughts about accepting the role of Sue Ellen Ewing in the movie remake of the classic tv series "Dallas." According to Deadline Hollywood Daily's sources, she's so keen to get out of the role she has switched talent agencies from International Creative Management (ICM) to the William Morris Agency.
"The actress and her managers at The Firm believe that her appearing in the remake of the oldie-but-goodie primetime soap is a 'bad move' for her acting career...Lopez will be repped by [William Morris Agency] in all areas, including her music career. J-Lo has a recent history of changing talent agencies (and managers) as often as she changes outfits. (This was her third time at ICM; she's been at Endeavor and CAA, too.)"
