JLo spews fragrance with the scent of baby's head

London - It seems that Latino beauty Jennifer Lopez is giving vent to her maternal instincts by coming up with a perfume that smells like the top of a baby's head.

The beauty, who has just launched a new fragrance called 'Live', revealed that perfume bosses wanted to know about the kind of scents that appeal to her and she immediately thought of it.

"They were like, 'Let's get specific, what smells intrigue you right now?' and I was like, 'Well, babies. The smell of a babies head, you know, the way the top of their heads smell,'" JLo was quoted by Femalefirst, as saying.

"Then I think I said warm yellow cake and a redcurrant candle I had at home, and they went away to experiment with those things and see what they could come up with," she added.

However, Lopez is quick to point out that no babies went into the bottle.

She added in an interview with Britain's You magazine: "None! None, please, please, I don't need those kind of accusations about babies. No babies went into that bottle!" (ANI)

Casting Dallas

Who's gonna be J.R. in the Dallas movie?" is apparently the new, "Who's gonna be the next James Bond?" Variety is naming a pretty wide range of actors, from Mel Gibson to Tommy Lee Jones, but John Travolta is said to currently be in the lead. And, though her reps vehemently denied her involvement several months ago – even going as far to claim that if a casting rumor is printed anywhere except for "our industry papers of record, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter", then it's probably not true – Catherine Zeta-Jones is atop the list of names for the role of Sue Ellen, which Jennifer Lopez and Demi Moore are also said to be up for. What about Bobby? Matthew McConaughey and Owen Wilson are said to be on the list to fill Patrick Duffy's boots. The producers are apparently dead set on casting a pop starlet in the role of Lucy; Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson are all on the list. Other names floating around for various roles in Robert Luketic's film include Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, and Jane Fonda.

J-Lo to film in Nogales, Son.

By Lourdes Medrano , Arizona Daily Star Sun Sep 25, 4:40 AM ET

NOGALES, Sonora - Residents here are gearing up to roll out the welcome mat for movie star Jennifer Lopez.

The actress will start filming the crime thriller "Bordertown" in early October, when the streets and neighborhoods of this bustling Mexican city will bask in the glow of Hollywood.

"Any way you put it, the fact that Hollywood is making a film here will bring recognition to Nogales," said Eugenio Puebla, Sonora's regional tourism coordinator.

"There is a lot of excitement in the city, and we're getting a lot of calls from surrounding communities," Puebla added.

The film, written and directed by Gregory Nava, will co-star Antonio Banderas.

Filming initially was slated to begin in July, Puebla said, but it was postponed.

Lopez Fired Manager Who Told Her To Look Like Locklear

Superstar JENNIFER LOPEZ once fired her manager because he ordered her to diet, something the voluptuous star was determined never to do.

The MAID IN MANHATTAN actress was appalled when the unfortunate manager told her to aim to look like slender SPIN CITY beauty HEATHER LOCKLEAR.

Lopez says, "At the beginning, when I first started doing music and movies I think I had this attitude that I didn't have to be like anyone else. I didn't have to conform to being very thin.

"I had this manager who was very critical of my shape, he felt that everyone should look like Heather Locklear - thin and blonde. I fired him."

It's a J.Lo World

There will be lots of gold hoop earrings, to be sure. But Jennifer Lopez's World of JLO Shop, which opens its first U.S. location inside Marshall Field's State Street on Thursday, will go easy on the bling and focus on the young and casual.

"It's for anybody who wants to live the Jennifer lifestyle," said the line's co-founder and director Andy Hilfiger (yep, he's Tommy's brother).

A store-within-a-store of sorts, World of JLO will feature items in the JLO by Jennifer Lopez line, including apparel, accessories and lingerie.

On Thursday, Lopez will be on hand for the 4:30 p.m. unveiling of the 674-square-foot space, and will stick around that evening for a specially ticketed fashion show and reception benefiting pediatric medical research at Children's Memorial Hospital.

Hilfiger said the shop will make shoppers think "girls night out," with its brushed pink and tan color palette and stainless steel fixtures. The merchandise? Eclectic fashions for the 18- to 25-year-old set. "A lot of it is denim or athletic based that would usually be sold alongside Guess, Baby Phat or DKNY," said Hilfiger.

Marshall Field's senior buyer Catherine Champion called JLO a "line for the cool girl." It's at least for the girl who skims the fashion glossies. Among the finds: chocolate-colored, angora-blend gaucho pants with a tuxedo stripe; and double-breasted tweed jackets with military detailing and puff sleeves. Jewelry will be well represented, too, with those gold hoop earrings ("the kind Jen wears all over," according to Champion) and Bollywood-inspired medallion necklaces. Also stocked: handbags, hats, coats, watches and fragrances, including Live, Lopez's most recent debut. Items range from $25 to $250.

Moscow already has a stand-alone World of JLO Shop, and Spain will get one in 2006.

World of JLO Shop will be located on the second floor near Men's Contemporary at Marshall Field's State Street (111 N. State St.); 312-781-1000.

With this character, Jennifer Lopez redeems herself- A Nice Review

By Rich Copley

HERALD-LEADER CULTURE CRITIC

This just in: J.Lo can act.

OK, that's something we knew about Jennifer Lopez back in the day, when she was making a name for herself in terrific movies such as Out of Sight (1998, with Kentucky's own George Clooney), Selena (1997) and My Family (1995).

But then the actress embarked on a career as a celebrity, and the Grammy dress, the C-grade pop albums and the steady stream of arm candy took the spotlight. That's no surprise when you're making celluloid refuse such as Gigli (2003) and Monster-in-Law (2005).

But this week we see Lopez in a different light, as an abused girlfriend, single mother and unwelcome houseguest of Robert Redford in An Unfinished Life.

Life is easily Redford's best movie in many years.

Though he is not directing -- Cider House Rules (1999) director Lasse Hallstrom directs the adaptation of Mark Spragg's novel -- Life has a lot in common in tone and theme with Redford's Oscar-winning directorial debut, Ordinary People (1980).

In both, we have a dead beloved son, and a terminally grieving parent directing all the blame and guilt at one person. In this one, father Einar Gilkyson (Redford) holds former daughter-in-law Jean (Lopez) responsible for his son's death in an auto accident.

"They call them accidents to make the guilty feel better," Einar growls when his best friend, Mitch (Morgan Freeman), defends Jean, who returns to his rural Wyoming farm fleeing an abusive boyfriend.

But Einar is nursing some guilt of his own. And he can't help but gruffly warm to his innocent granddaughter Griff (Becca Gardner), who was named after her father.

Gardner is the movie's find -- a real, natural preteen handling some intense scenes well and melding into life on Einar's farm.

Thanks to the honest and sometimes funny screenplay by Spragg and his wife, Virginia Korus Spragg, Freeman and Redford create a touching bond that drives the story. Hallstrom directs with a moderate pace that seems to befit the rural Wyoming setting. When you feel a cliche big-event moment coming, it usually doesn't, giving weight to the tale of redemption.

This is a movie that truly belongs to the ensemble. But hopefully it represents a turn for Lopez toward films that will last longer than her marriages.

Sir Paul McCartney's wife slams Jennifer Lopez's fur fetish

People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has found a new voice in Sir Paul McCartney's second wife Heather Mills McCartney. And bearing the brunt of the 37-year-old ex-model's anger is pop star Jennifer Lopez, whose love for fur is well known. The pop star also owns clothing company Sweetface that uses fur in its apparels.

“PETA has tried for years to educate her (Lopez) about fur, at first quietly and now like this. She keeps saying she wants to be educated. So the next stage is I'll find out where she lives and show up there. And I'll get a hold of her at her premieres. She needs to find some warmth inside her and penetrate that warmth in her heart,” Heather said on the sidelines of a protest march by PETA at the New York Sweetface office. Lopez has been ruffling the feathers of the anti-fur brigade ever since she appeared for the premiere of her film Maid In Manhattan wearing a £10,000 mink coat.
To bring the plight of animals to the public's attention, Heather wore a plasma TV airing the videos of animals being skinned alive in China. She and her group left the building only after the building security threatened to call the police.

During the scuffle, Heather's prosthetic leg came off and she was seen limping. The model lost had her leg in 1993 in an accident involving a police motorcyclist in London. “I saw her limp away from the offices as J Lo's men were still shouting at her to get out. They were even saying, 'Call the cops, call the cops',” media reports quoted a photographer as saying.

Heather was then given support by the photographer, identified as Richard Corkery, to go to a staircase where she could reattach her leg. “I saw her touch her knee and I could see she was in pain. She limped to the ladies room but it was locked. I found another door open. It led on to the stairwell. At least she could have a private moment, which is what she needed,” Corkery said.
The protest is the second one Heather has participated in this week. Earlier on Monday, the police evicted her from the New York office of fashion brand J Crew. There too, she wore a sandwich board that sported a plasma screen TV displaying video clippings of animals being skinned alive in China.

According to Heather, her animal rights activities have the full support of her husband, who accompanied her to PETA event of Sunday. “I talked to Paul today and he's very proud (of me). Buying anything with fur supports one of the most gruesome industries on the planet,” she said.

Jennifer Lopez And Marc Anthony Focus On Children In Hurricane

Jennifer Lopez and her husband, singer Marc Anthony, are encouraging their fans to help Hurricane Katrina's littlest victims by joining them in donating to the Children's Health Fund's Operation Assist. Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight, "The truth is, the people who are going to be affected the most are frail, are children, are the elderly and (with) this organization, the money goes directly to health care and helping these people and getting them well. They suffer psychological trauma as well, there's so many things. This is a great, great charity if you're looking for something to donate to."
The charity is sending mobile health care units to provide health care for victims of Hurricane Katrina throughout the Gulf region. For more information, log on to childrenshealthfund.org.

In other news, Jennifer was dragged out onstage by television host Joy Behar, during Marc Anthony's appearance on ABC's The View last week. Marc was on the show with his tour-mates, Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernandez and Puerto Rican pop idol Chayanne, when Behar invited the reluctant Jennifer to join them onstage. Behar apparently got up from her seat, went backstage and dragged Jennifer out in front of the audience where the actress smiled, waved, blew kisses and scampered off stage again without saying a word.

Lopez Stirred By Hurricane Victim's Wooden Find

Jennifer Lopez was inspired to do all she could for the victims of Hurricane Katrina after she saw haunting TV footage of a devastated woman carrying a plank of wood.

The actress/singer has donated cash to the relief effort and appeared during Saturday's (10SEP05) MTV telethon, REACT NOW, urging others to do the same.

She felt compelled to do what she could after she was left speechless by a TV news report.

She says, "There was one of these ladies and all of a sudden she runs to a piece of wood and is, like, 'This is from our bedroom...'

"That's... the only thing that you have to hang onto from your life."

Lopez Puzzled By Huge Panties Hurled At Her Husband

Jennifer Lopez is baffled by the underwear female fans of her husband Marc Anthony throw onstage at his concerts - because they're not exactly skimpy, sexy items.

The pop superstar often watches Anthony's shows from the wings and, though she doesn't mind when lusty fans hurl bras and panties onstage, she does wonder why the lingerie is so big.

She muses, "They're always like large. I don't know if they do that on purpose, so it gets there... I'm like, 'Surely the woman who threw this does not have these things.'"

Lopez admits she has no idea what becomes of the lingerie: "They're not on the bus with us, that's for sure."

J-Lo wins mom's approval by working with Redford

NEW YORK (Reuters) - She's made nearly 30 movies, earned millions from her music, launched her own fashion label and married a superstar but Jennifer Lopez says she finally won her mom's approval by working with Robert Redford.
"He was my mother's favorite actor of all time," Lopez told reporters in New York before Friday's release of "An Unfinished Life" in which she stars opposite the Hollywood legend.

"This is the man my mother lived for. My career means something now because I've worked with Robert Redford."

Lopez's acting career has seen highs and lows -- she was nominated for a Golden Globe for the 1997 film "Selena" but won Hollywood's least-coveted award, a "Razzie," for the worst in the business, for the 2003 film "Gigli."

After the critically acclaimed "Out of Sight" with George Clooney in 1998 she launched her alternative career as a musician, achieving commercial success that has sometimes overshadowed her parallel work in romantic comedies such as "Maid in Manhattan" and "The Wedding Planner."

Her real life romantic dramas have often attracted as much attention as her work, from a spectacular public bust-up with actor Ben Affleck to last year's marriage to Latin music star Marc Anthony.

In her new film, Lopez plays the widowed and estranged daughter-in-law of Redford's character. She returns to his ranch in Wyoming with her daughter to escape an abusive relationship.

She made the film more than two years ago, right after "Maid in Manhattan."

"There was a real desire to do something a little bit more character-driven, a little bit more dramatic," she said.

"I go back and forth. It's something I've always done. Of course the romantic comedies and the commercial successes get more attention but this is something that I enjoy doing."

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Jennifer Lopez was in Puerto Rico this week to record a reggaeton song with rapper-producer Pharrell Williams.
The 37-year-old (sic) singer-actress arrived Tuesday to work on the track, which will be produced by top reggaeton duo LunyTunes, El Vocero and El Nuevo Dia newspapers reported.

Lopez and Williams are the latest U.S. artists to cross over into reggaeton, a mix of Jamaican dancehall, hip-hop and Latin beats that is becoming increasingly popular in the United States.

Williams forms half of the Grammy-winning production duo The Neptunes with Chad Hugo. N.E.R.D., which fuses hip-hop, rock and funk, is a side project of the duo.

Lopez released her latest album, Rebirth, in March.
