SweetFace Gives Reasons Why JLO Lovelies Line Was Dropped

Both H&M and Sweetface have discontinued their plus-sized clothing lines. Here is their response as to why the lines have been ended:

H&M and Jennifer Lopez's Sweetface Fashion LLC, brands known for style-conscious yet relatively affordable clothing, are discontinuing their plus-size lines in the United States. (H&M's collection, called BiB for Big is Beautiful, will continue to be sold in other countries.)

"It's absolutely not an image issue," said Lisa Sandberg, director of communications for H&M in the United States. Her sentiment was echoed by Andy Hilfiger, president and co-founder of Sweetface, as well as representatives of the Gap, J. Crew and other companies that offer extended sizes online.

According to Hilfiger, the plus-size line "did okay." The problem, he said, was that department stores stocked it in their plus-size departments; Hilfiger wanted it in juniors, next to the brand's other sizes.

"A lot of designers, they're not advertising the plus-size line," Hilfiger said. "I wanted a girl that was a size 2 to shop with a size 13."

Hilfiger admitted that designing for plus-size customers takes experience -- a point that Lane Bryant likes to emphasize.

Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her Secrets

Pop sensation Jennifer Lopez has revealed the secret to keeping her skin looking younger for longer – placenta facial treatment.

The chart topping diva, also star of a number of box office hits, has joined the number of A-grade celebs regularly using the treatment originally discovered by Russian scientists.

Her closely guarded secret will be revealed in a world exclusive report on the VH1 show, the fabulous life of Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, to be broadcast June 6, 2005. During the program, J. Lo talks openly about her placenta collagen face masks.

Fetal cell based cosmeceuticals are being used in all of the top US clinics and are growing in popularity world-wide. According to cosmetic researchers, placenta protein in skin care products supplements the vitamin and hormone content. Over time, scientists believe the protein nourishes and actually rejuvenates the skin.

A spokesman for placenta cosmetic experts, Ost Cosmetics, which distributes Plazan Products worldwide, said: "This is the future for beauty care. More and more people are beginning to discover the amazing benefits of placenta skin care. What other beauty products promise, Plazan delivers in spades. It's been proven time and time again that placenta not only slows down the skin's ageing process but also makes young-looking skin healthier."

Jennifer Lopez Joins Supermodel Lineup For Pirelli

While it usually is full of big names from the modeling world, the Pirelli calendar, featuring a dozen of the sexiest fashion photos of the year, will be include a new but familiar celebrity face in 2006.

Joining the likes of catwalk stars Gisele Bundchen, Natalia Vodianova and Kate Moss will be multifaceted diva Jennifer Lopez, who makes her Pirelli debut. While Gisele and Kate completed their seductive swimwear shoots earlier this week in Cannes, J. Lo was spotted on her Riviera assignment on Thursday.

Famed for its risqué tone and artistic nude pics, the Pirelli calendar has included sensual shots of Alek Wek, Karolina Kurkova, Sophie Dahl and Heidi Klum in the past. In 2001, Pirelli went fully-clothed for the first time with celebs such as Mena Suvari and Selma Blair, and US President George W Bush's model niece, Lauren.

Fans will have to wait a while to get a peek at Jennifer's sexiest side, however. The official photographs for the 2006 calendar are to be kept top secret until November.

Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez: BeautyRiot.com's Beauty Icons of the Month

Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez are currently the most popular beauty icons among online women, according to BeautyRiot.com. The "three J's" drew the most interest from women seeking hairstyles and makeup inspiration and ideas, according to user stats from the leading celebrity beauty and hairstyles Web site in April 2005.

Each of the three stars has recently made a major change to her appearance. Coming in at number one, Jessica Simpson's new, shorter, shoulder-length hairstyle was by far the most popular hairdo with BeautyRiot.com's users. In second place, Jessica Alba, traditionally a longhaired brunette, now sports a sleek, chin-length, blonde bob. And, third place winner Jennifer Lopez recently cut her ultra-long hair into a shoulder-length style similar to Jessica Simpson's and Nicole Richie's haircuts.

"Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez represent a growing appreciation for personal style among modern women," said BeautyRiot.com's editor in chief, Kirsten Lambertsen. "Each of these three women has her own unique look. Women today seek beauty style inspiration from celebrities who have embraced their own personal strengths rather than trying to fit into a cookie-cutter idea of what is beautiful."

Among BeautyRiot.com's remaining Beauty Icons, fourth place went to Lindsay Lohan, and Jennifer Aniston came in fifth. Statistics were gathered from over 592,000 users and nearly seven million pageviews at BeautyRiot.com in April 2005. Visitors to the site can view photos and hairstyles of over 75 different celebrities.

Lopez Proves Critics Wrong

JENNIFER LOPEZ is thrilled her latest movie MONSTER-IN-LAW debuted at the top of the US box office - because it proves she's a talented actress, despite a string of flop performances.

Lopez was devastated by the critical-mauling her films GIGLI and JERSEY GIRL received, and hopes her success in director ROBERT LUKETIC's romantic comedy proves her previous failures were caused by poor film choices, not bad acting.

She gushes, "This proves I am a good actress."

Jennifer doesn't believe in love at first sight

Jennifer Lopez didn't fancy her husband when they first met.

The diva, who says she isn't a believer in love at first sight, claims she didn't look twice at Latin singer Marc Anthony when they were introduced before working on a duet together.

But the three times married star quickly fell for his hidden charms and the smitten couple tied-the-knot last June in a secret ceremony at her Los Angeles home.

She revealed: "Did I fancy Marc? Not really, not at first. But I definitely think he did me, which is why he did the duet."

Meanwhile, J.Lo has defended her butt - saying contrary to public opinion it is "normal size".

The 35-year-old beauty claims she can't understand the fuss over her famous curvy rear, saying: "My butt is not any bigger than anybody else's. It is normal, I'm normal."

But her butt's number one fan appears to be husband Marc - who reportedly painted the superstar in the nude "from her backside".

Despite her latest moan, Lopez was said to be delighted with the oil painting which depicts her greatest asset.

A pal told America's In Touch Weekly magazine: "J.Lo was so flattered by the beautiful portrait Marc painted of her that she hung it in her dressing room at home."

JENNIFER LOPEZ has hit out at TV shows that makeover members of the public to look like her.

One of the latest trends of reality shows takes fans of celebrities and gives them cosmetic surgery and style makeovers so they resemble their heroes.

But J.Lo finds the phenomenon creepy.

She says, "I saw one recently and thought, 'Get your own look.'"

off-topic: Practice what you preach, PETA

A new website has been launched containing content we believe is informative:

In short, PETA euthanizes homeless cats and dogs and other "companion animals" that they cannot afford to house. PETA thinks their money is better spent attacking celebrities and pimping campaigns that target impressionable young children urging them not to eat meat ("Your Mommy Kills Animals") or drink milk (or, as PETA calls it, "pus"). PETA, get your priorities in order.

Lopez among UPN star powers

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - UPN is adding some star power to its lineup for next season, picking up two series toplined by Shannen Doherty, a drama executive-produced by Jennifer Lopez and starring Vanessa L. Williams, and a comedy executive-produced by Chris Rock.

UPN is still finalizing its schedule, which will be unveiled to advertisers Thursday at Madison Square Garden in New York, but sources indicated that comedies "Girlfriends," "Half & Half" "One on One" and its freshman spinoff "Cuts" are looking good to return.

There also was buzz Tuesday about a possible second-season pickup for "Kevin Hill," an acclaimed drama starring Taye Diggs that has been on the bubble after failing to gain traction with viewers.

Not expected to come back for a third season is the Will Smith/Jada Pinkett Smith-produced comedy "All of Us."

UPN makes a departure from its tried-and-true comedy brand with "Everybody Hates Chris," a comedy narrated by Rock and based on his childhood experiences.

"Love, Inc." stars Doherty as a pragmatic dating consultant of single men.

"Sex, Lies & Secrets" is a comedy-drama about a tight-knit group of twentysomethings in Silver Lake, Calif., while Lopez' "South Beach" follows three young adults in Miami.

More Pregnancy Rumors....

From Contact Music:

Jennifer Lopez has strongly hinted she is pregnant with her first child with husband MARC ANTHONY, in a revealing new interview.

The actress refuses to confirm or deny rumours she is expecting a baby, but shows off a fuller, bustier figure and admits she has been craving food in the middle of the night.

She also reveals she'd be prepared to combine motherhood with her busy acting career.

The 35-year-old says, "I do, I do, I do want a family and it's going to happen.

"It's the biggest blessing you can have. I believe that. If it happens, you re-arrange from there."

She adds of her cravings, "For the first time ever, I woke up in the middle of the night starving. I really wanted to get up and eat. I thought, 'Oh dear, I can't start that habit. At 10am I got up and had four eggs.'"

J.Lo lets slip further hints when quizzed about Anthony's children with his first wife DAYANARA TORRES. She teases, "I can't talk about his babies. I really can't. Let's just say I'm very happy with my entire situation."

And she suggests the decision to cut her long hair short will coincide with her impending motherhood, as well as being for her new role in movie BORDER TOWN.

She says, "Cutting my hair might be an outward statement of something going on inside. I've always had long hair, so it was a big deal for me to cut it."

Lopez, Fonda a 'Monster' pairing at U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Two new comedies pairing veteran actors with younger stars dominated the weekend box office in North America, with the Jennifer Lopez- Jane Fonda vehicle "Monster-in-Law" taking top honors, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday.

Monster-in-Law," Fonda's first film since 1990's "Stanley & Iris," sold about $24 million worth of tickets since opening May 13. It was followed by the Will Ferrell- Robert Duvall soccer comedy, "Kicking & Screaming," which scored a three-day estimate of $20.9 million.

Both films outperformed the expectations of their respective studios, New Line Cinema and Universal Pictures, but they were unable to prevent the overall box office from suffering its 12th consecutive "down" weekend when compared with the year-ago period. Sales so far this year are down 6 percent from last year, and attendance is off 9 percent, according to box office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations.

J.Lo: 'I Wish Affleck Happiness'

Jennifer Lopez wants former fiance BEN AFFLECK to "find happiness" like she has, following their split last year (04).

Lopez and Affleck were due to marry in September 2003, but the wedding was cancelled at the last minute and they split for good the following January.

Lopez married Latin singer MARC ANTHONY just five months later and she celebrates her first wedding anniversary next month (JUN05).

In a new interview, the MONSTER-IN-LAW beauty insists she hopes Affleck finds the same happiness she has.

She says, "I want him to be happy. He's a great guy. We had a great time together.

"I hope he's found his place and found some happiness.

"That will be a beautiful thing for him."

J.Lo Sneaks Past PETA

Jennifer Lopez has out-smarted the animal rights protesters hounding her publicity tour for new movie MONSTER-IN-LAW, by taping an interview in secret.

PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA) activists campaigned at the film's premiere in April (05) and outside her appearances on MTV and DAVID LETTERMAN's TV show earlier this month (MAY05). And they intended to continue their bitter protest at the use of animal fur in J.Lo's clothing range SWEETFACE outside the recording of her appearance on BARBARA WALTERS show THE VIEW today (13MAY05).

Because The View guest host CONSTANCE MARIE is a PETA supporter, the group decided to tone down their protest by just handing out leaflets outside the New York studio - but were stunned to discover the interview was actually recorded last Tuesday (03MAY05).

PETA spokesperson MICHAEL McGRAW says, "After the waves of noisy protesters that confronted her at DAVID LETTERMAN, it's no surprise that J.Lo is avoiding any pre-announced live appearances in New York City."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for The View insists fears about PETA had nothing to do with the decision to tape the normally-live show.

Jennifer Lopez flaunts NZ designer jeans

She’s harassed by fur protesters wherever she goes and some suggest she can’t act - but at least Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez knows how to flaunt her New Zealand designer jeans.

J-Lo appeared on the top-rating US show The Late Show with David Letterman this month in a pair of Karen Walker jeans.

She bought the denims at the exclusive boutique Elizabeth Charles in New York and would have paid about US$300 ($414), Ms Walker said.

And while it’s not the first time a member of Hollywood’s elite has been seen in a Karen Walker design, it was nice to add another big name to the label’s celebrity-buyer list.

"Good old J-Lo. It’s nice when someone known for their style gives you the thumbs-up," Ms Walker said.

While she couldn’t think of any film she had seen starring the actress, she did like her music.

Protesters are less impressed with 35-year-old Lopez after the launch of her "Sweetface" clothing label, which included a line of fur.

At the premiere of her new movie "Monster-in-Law", animal rights’ activists declared Lopez the "monster in fur" and have been regularly picketing her public appearances.

The Diva-in-Law?

I found this article this morning ; Apparently the author is determined to continue the rumors of Jennifer's diva behavior. Although it's not the most positive press- it is indeed still press!

Despite global fame, Lopez says she's still Jenny from the block

From the Winnipeg Sun

Written By: Louis B. Hobson

HOLLYWOOD -- Jennifer Lopez insists she doesn't really know that J.Lo person journalists love to write about and paparazzi like to photograph.

"Who I am as a person has never jibed with how I'm portrayed in the press. I am not the diva the press has created," insists Lopez. "It's all fabricated to make things more interesting."

Lopez utters these pearls of wisdom at a press conference for more than 100 journalists gathered to do interviews for her new comedy Monster-in-Law.

Her co-stars Jane Fonda and Michael Vartan have just completed three hours of roundtable interviews with the same journalists in groups of 10 to 12 people. Lopez couldn't spare the time or the energy -- but she's not a diva.

A whole floor of the Beverly Hills Four Seasons Hotel is secured for her. No one was allowed on the floor without a pink armband, and people were checked at the elevators by security -- but she's not a diva.

When a journalist confronted Lopez about the strict security measures, she joked it was because there would be a dance immediately following her press conference. She then insisted she knew nothing about the security.

When that remark elicited a wave of snickers, her press agents insisted it was the hotel or film company who had initiated these measures, not Lopez or her team.

"I have to have security," added Lopez. "The paparazzi have become so aggressive. Their relationship with me has turned into a game of cops-and-robbers."

She says her only recourse has been "to take myself out of the public arena as much as possible. I've stopped leaving my house unless it is absolutely necessary."

Vartan Comfortable Being in Lopez Shadow

LOS ANGELES - Michael Vartan doesn't mind playing second banana to either of Ben Affleck's Jennifers.

Vartan — former boyfriend of Affleck's current love Jennifer Garner, as well as her co-star on TV's "Alias" — now plays backup to Affleck's ex, Jennifer Lopez, in the big-screen romantic comedy "Monster-in-Law."

Lopez plays a wannabe artist earning her keep with a string of jobs that include dog-walking and office temp work. After she meets the man of her dreams, a doctor (Vartan) from a wealthy family, her prospective mother-in-law (Jane Fonda) goes to slapstick extremes to try to break up their engagement.

The movie gives top billing above the title to Lopez and Fonda. Vartan comes third, after the title, a position with which he's perfectly comfortable.

"I have a very healthy and I guess accurate perspective of where my career is and where I fit in in this crazy business," Vartan told The Associated Press. "I don't really care if my name's first, second or last or even in the end credits.

"Being in the movie is much more important. And also, I knew that this was their movie. This was clearly a movie about the two women going at it, sort of creating chaos. So I knew what I was getting into. It was much more about getting to work with Jane and Jennifer, so how can you say no?"

Vartan caught his share of tabloid fame when he and Garner were dating. So he can commiserate with what his co-stars have gone through because of their involvement with Affleck.

Both of his Jennifer co-stars have handled the notoriety with poise, Vartan said.

"They're amazing. The people who succeed in this business and have staying power are the ones that really understand the two facets of it, the work and the celebrity, and they're professional. You know you're going to be chased by paparazzi if you're one of the Jennifers. That's just the way it goes."

Lopez's New Movie Sparks Reaction From Allergy Group

JENNIFER LOPEZ and JANE FONDA's new movie MONSTER-IN-LAW has come under fire - from an allergy organization.

Members of America's FOOD ALLERGY + ANAPHYLAXIS NETWORK (FAAN) have branded the upcoming comedy insensitive to people with food allergies, thanks to a scene in which Fonda's character crushes up nuts and laces a gravy boat with them after she learns Lopez's character has a serious nut allergy.

According to MTV NEWS, the organization worries that the movie sets the stage for copycat incidents, which could be life threatening for some.

FAAN founder ANNE MUNOZ-FURLONG says, "I doubt NEW LINE would permit a scene where a diabetic would be given an overdose of insulin. In real life, food allergies are no laughing matter."

Lopez: No Trouble With Boyfriends' Moms

LOS ANGELES May 11, 2005 — Unlike her character in the new movie "Monster-in-Law," Jennifer Lopez says she's never had any trouble with the mothers of the men she's dated.

"I've never really had any trouble with boyfriends' moms or any moms of anybody that I've been with," Lopez told reporters recently, according to AP Radio. "So, I've been lucky. They like me."

After her much-publicized romances with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and Ben Affleck, Lopez wed Marc Anthony in June 2004. She was previously married to Cris Judd and Ojani Noa.

In "Monster-in-Law," which opens Friday, Jane Fonda plays a mother trying to sabotage the upcoming nuptials of her son, played by Michael Vartan, and Lopez. Lopez and Fonda's characters literally come to blows.

"We wound up slapping each other a lot," Lopez told reporters. "I did get her bad in the eye. … She said with my ring. I don't even remember doing it to her. … That happened after doing it a few times. … But my face was swollen, you could see it, I think, in one of the takes."

Wanda Sykes on working with Jennifer Lopez

When Conan O'Brien asked Wanda Sykes what it was like working with "J. Lo," Wanda joked about Jennifer no longer wanting to be called by that name:

"It's 'Jennifer Lopez.' I had to sign a contract and everything.

But I love working with Jennifer, because, the poor girl, the paparazzi chase her around and all that stuff so that gave me free reign. I could do whatever I wanted to do, because they were all paying attention to Jennifer. I could snort coke off of a dead hooker and nobody'd pay any attention to me."

Michael Vartan told the women of The View today that there was a little fan rivalry on the set of Monster-in-Law.

Lopez Struggles With Painting Problems

Jennifer Lopez is struggling with her painting hobby because every time she puts brush to canvas her efforts come out grey.

The pop star and actress has developed a love of painting after seeing how the art helps calm third husband MARC ANTHONY down, but she's beginning to accept she's no artist.

She says, "I try. It looks so nice - all the colours and everything and you get all excited - but I suck at it. Whenever I paint it comes out grey.

"Now I have a little bit of a series of greys. I may be onto something, who knows... It's definitely abstract... I have tons of grey paintings."

Lopez admits that she thinks her impatience is to blame.

She adds, "Marc always tells me, 'Let it dry,' and I don't have no patience. So I keep painting. I'm like, 'No, I can make it better if I do this.'"

Jennifer Lopez Laughs It Off

Los Angeles - Jennifer Lopez doesn't care a bit when people comment on her curves. In fact, she wore a light gray-blue Grecian-influenced satin gown to the premiere of her new romantic comedy "Monster-in-Law" last Friday night in Westwood that showed off her body to anyone who was looking - and naturally, everyone was, including her husband Marc Anthony (in a complementary gray suit) and her co-stars Jane Fonda and Wanda Sykes.

As Lopez tells it, she likes having the womanly body she's got, so much so that in the movie she's willing to have jokes made about her shape and size.

"I think that since the beginning, since I've kind of come into the public eye, there's always been something about that, where I'm not your kind of typical size three, very tall and thin type of actress. I think that's always been a good positive message that I've been able to have been associated with which I'm very proud of," Lopez says. "So I don't mind making fun of myself. I like making fun of myself. I like making people laugh. So if it's talking about where Jane Fonda called me 'fat' [in the film], I mean, she could. In a way, Jane Fonda, the workouts, the whole thing, she was always kind of like that."

In the comedy, Fonda is a horrible mother, trying to keep her son (played by "Alias" hottie Michael Vartan) from marrying Lopez. The jokes about their difference in size fly fast and furious, but that's just the way Lopez likes it.

"So she's eating healthy and you see me eating extra cake, and you know I don't need to eat extra cake. I just do in real life - and in the movie. So I think that it's nice to poke fun at that and know that you can still be attractive and beautiful or whatever, no matter if you do eat the extra cake. So I think that it's a positive thing."

Lopez might not have felt so positive about the anti-fur protestors haranguing her from across the street of the gala premiere (her clothing line features a number of real fur designs), but she definitely didn't show much concern for them as she walked the red carpet alongside a slew of celebrities who showed up to see her take on Fonda for laughs.

Hollywood females of every size, both super skinny and more rounded, came out in force, from Sally Field, Stockard Channing, Marg Helgenberger, Jacqueline Bisset, and Elaine Stritch to Alyssa Milano, Annie Parisse, Sofia Milos, and even ice skating champ Oksana Baiul. No one was actually wearing fur, but who wears a coat in Hollywood, anyway? The big fashion question of the night didn't have anything to do with fur, but with why Randy Quaid showed up with his hair bleached blond and wearing a dress. But no one ever figured out that weird one.

Jennifer Lopez wants to be first female US president

BERLIN (AFP) - After conquering Hollywood and the pop charts, Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez says she is ready to wrestle George W. Bush out of the White House.

"I'm a total powerhouse. If you ask me, I'd like to become the first female president -- that would be really cool," J.Lo told German celebrity glossy Bravo in an issue to be published Wednesday.

"The first thing I would do is redecorate the White House -- it doesn't look very cozy."

"La Lopez", 35, said the best break from her growing entertainment empire is housekeeping.

"Believe it or not -- I clean my house! All the stress disappears when I'm straightening up," she said, in comments published in German.

Lopez said she was sure after two divorces and her "Bennifer" engagement debacle with actor Ben Affleck that her marriage with singer Marc Anthony would last.

"I have a very good feeling and am sure that we will never part," he said.

"I think he would father beautiful children."

Lopez Falls Asleep To Food Shows

Jennifer Lopez videotapes hours of cooking shows - so she can fall asleep to them.

The singer/actress loves watching culinary shows on America's FOOD NETWORK because she knows if she dozes off there won't be any rude awakenings.

She explains, "I know that if I fall asleep to it that no gunshots are gonna come on or anything like that.

"Sometimes, when you leave the TV on and news at night and everything, you know, weird stuff comes on and you wake from your sleep and you say, 'What's going on?'

"There's never going to anything but cake and stuff on the food channel. I have trouble sleeping."

But the diva's favourite TV shows are US daytime chat show ELLEN and house remodelling series EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION.

Lopez to face ex-husband in court

Jennifer Lopez is being sued by her first husband Ojani Noa, who claims the Latina singer forced him to quit his job to run her California restaurant, but unfairly sacked him six months later despite his success.

The Jenny From The Block star, who married Noa in 1997 but left him a year later (1998), will appear in court in October to deny her ex-husband's unfair dismissal lawsuit.

Noa says he was grateful Lopez offered him a managerial job at Madres restaurant, Pasadena, despite the fact they had started divorce proceedings.

But he says he was horrified when she ignored the profits he had made at the eatery, and fired him.

He also claims he returned to the restaurant to work as a security guard, but was again axed after six months because he demanded a pay rise.

He says: "They called me into the office and said: 'We decided to let you go.' I was shocked.

"After six months, I made her a lot of money. For no reason they said: 'See you later. Thank you'."
