LOPEZ LEAVES AFFLECK MEMORIES BEHIND |
Jennifer Lopez is selling her $11 million (GBP6 million) mansion on Miami Beach because it reminds her of former love Ben Affleck.
The JENNY FROM THE BLOCK singer, 35, is sad to leave her much loved home - which boasts eight bedrooms, 11 fireplaces, a pool and a dock for her private yacht - but the lavish house holds too many memories of her failed engagement to the PEARL HARBOR actor.
J.Lo is moving to a $10 million (GBP5.5 million) luxury penthouse flat nearby to start a new life with husband MARC ANTHONY.
This latest acquisition adds to J.Lo's impressive property portfolio which includes a $6.5 million (GBP3.5 million) mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles and a manor house in New York.

Details emerge on Lopez film plans |
Jennifer Lopez has plans for the big and small screens this year -- but not the kind you might be thinking.
Her production company, Nuyorican Productions, is still casting for their pilot, which is tentatively titled South Beach.
Described as The O.C. meets The Sopranos set in Miami, the one-hour drama swirls around two guys who've moved south from the Bronx, New York, according to a spokesperson from Nuyorican. One is running from some unspecified bad news back home, and the other is chasing an ex-girlfriend who is pursuing a modeling career in Miami. UPN is the pilot's current home; Lopez may make cameo appearances.
J. Lo's production company is also working on two other film projects, according to the spokesperson. One is a musical biopic currently in the works entitled El Cantante that stars her husband, Marc Anthony. And a thriller called Bordertown begins production next month and stars Lopez herself. J. Lo plays a journalist who travels to the U.S./ Mexican border, investigating mysterious factory murders. Plans call for both Bordertown and South Beach to hit the screens later this year.

KNOWLES AND LOPEZ EYE UP BECKHAM FOR VIDEO |
Pop beauties BEYONCE KNOWLES and JENNIFER LOPEZ are both trying to persuade soccer hunk DAVID BECKHAM to star in their next music videos.
Knowles and Lopez have both decided a brilliant way to promote their forthcoming singles would be to have REAL MADRID ace Beckham appear in their promo clip.
The two singers hadn't realised the extent of Beckham's international fame outside their native America until they embarked on a brief European trip to promote their recent PEPSI advertisement together.
And now Knowles and Lopez are both keen to work with the soccer player, who is married to former SPICE GIRL VICTORIA BECKHAM.
But Beckham has yet to decide which, if any, video he will appear in.
An insider says, "They couldn't believe how popular he was. During all the promotional appearances more people were screaming for him than them.
"Beyonce and J.Lo have good business heads and realise what great publicity it would be to have David in their videos.
"David is hugely flattered to be approached by both the singers. But it would be overdoing it to appear in two videos so he's trying to decide between them."

LOPEZ: 'I ALWAYS PICK GREAT SCRIPTS' |
Jennifer Lopez insists that she only picks great scripts.
The Latina star - who's suffered critical maulings in pictures like THE WEDDING PLANNER, MAID IN MANHATTAN, ENOUGH and GIGLI - admits many of the projects that had early potential to wow audiences have turned out to be disasters.
But far from shouldering the blame herself, Lopez is adamant she's given her best performance in every film - and she's only ever pursued a part if the script captivates her.
She tells Britain's EMPIRE magazine, "It's hard to choose what's going to be a great movie. I've chosen great material but it hasn't always turned out to be a great movie. I would be disappointed in myself if I walked away from a movie and I was like, 'I didn't even f**king try. I sucked in that movie, I didn't give all that I could have. I phoned it in.' Then I'd be mad at myself, but I've never done that so I don't feel that way. I don't feel that I've had huge failures in my life because of that."

Jennifer Lopez: No more 'Soap Opera' |
From CNN.com
NEW YORK (AP) -- While other celebrities have taken pains to keep their public life under wraps, Jennifer Lopez always seemed to relish the white-hot spotlight.
Whether she was frolicking with Ben Affleck in a music video, wearing a barely there outfit to drive the paparazzi wild or gushing about her latest love in a magazine, Lopez was willing to let the public share in her private life.
"I grew up in New York and was very out there and outgoing. One of my main things was I'm not going to let this business change me, you know what I mean?" explains the Bronx-bred Lopez, 34. "That was always one of my mantras."
Today, though, as Lopez promotes her fashion line and new album, "Rebirth," she's sticking by a new mantra -- keep her private life private. It took her eight months to finally acknowledge her June wedding to singer-actor Marc Anthony, and she still won't talk about it. Instead, Lopez is trying to put the focus back on her career.
"I don't want to talk about anything that is personal or private at all, because what's the use? You're open with people, and then they try and make a soap opera out of your life," Lopez said in an interview with The Associated Press.
"Then it's not about your work anymore, it's not about the movie you're promoting or the record you hope your fans will enjoy, it becomes about other silly stuff and it's damaging. It's damaging not just to your career, but your person."
For a while, Lopez's stardom seemed to grow in tandem with her tabloid persona. She sold millions of albums, had No. 1 hits and enjoyed box-office success with movies such as "Maid in Manhattan" as the public became more interested in J.Lo, or Jenny From the Block -- the woman dating and breaking up with P. Diddy, embarking on another quickie marriage or setting fashion trends with her awards show attire.
But her image started to suffer in 2003, when Lopez was in the midst of a very public romance with Affleck -- the "Bennifer" pairing was that year's Brad-and-Jen frenzy. The couple's overexposure, followed by the release of their bomb "Gigli," drew both more scorn than anything. Though the couple split and Lopez later married Anthony -- her third husband -- the sting from the tabloid attention still lingers.
"I think it got really loud for a minute for me, and it became not about my work anymore. And the reason why I was in the public eye to begin with is because I was in movies, I was making records," she said. "And all of the sudden it wasn't anything about that. And I didn't want it to be about anything else but that."
Figuring out 'why I was in the business'
So Lopez took a six-month break from Hollywood last year to regroup.
"For me, what it was it was about kind of being alone, and thinking, and realizing that for me it was really a time for me to realize why I was in the business in the first place," she said. "How do I keep the focus there, and still maintain my life and the privacy of myself?"
Lopez -- who has released five movies and three albums in the past three years -- also felt like she was jamming out projects instead of spending time to reflect on what was right for her.
Lopez made sure her fourth studio album, "Rebirth," didn't suffer from those circumstances. The star spent several months on it and had a greater role in its production -- which boosted her confidence.
"I think musically, the first time I made an album, I had never even been in a studio, or behind a mike before. The first time I ever sang live was at Madison Square Garden," she laughed. "You develop this insecurity, and then kind of have to build yourself back up.
"I've become more confident as a musician and as a co-producer and as a vocalist, whereas before I was a little more insecure, and kind of so worried about people criticizing me for this or that or whatever."
Lopez has taken her share of criticism over the years -- from her feather-light voice to even her acting abilities. But Rich Harrison, who produced Lopez's new hit "Get Right," said the hits Lopez have taken has only made her stronger as an artist.
"She knows what people tend to say about her and it makes her work so much harder, that much harder in the studio," he said. "She's not satisfied until it feels right, until it feels good."
And Lopez is happy with "Rebirth." It incorporates the hip-hop/dance vibe that's garnered her so much success over the years, but also blends in other genres, including '80s pop-rock. Lopez calls it a more risky album.
"It's not so safe as my other ones were," she said. "These are things that are a little funkier, a little deeper, and yet still danceable in a way."
She's still willing to take risks with her career. But as far as her personal life -- she's playing it safe.
"I used to be the kind of person who would talk about a lot of things, but as I've matured I've realized that's not the best way to go," she said. "You have to set boundaries ... you have to protect what's sacred to you."

Jennifer Lopez has two mega movies lined up |
[Entertainment News]: New Delhi, March 12 : Music idol Jennifer Lopez would feature in two big movies this year - "An Unfinished Life" with Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman and "Monster-in-Law" with Jane Fonda.
The films follow her new hit album "Rebirth", which Sony released worldwide this month, and is an attempt by Lopez to focus on her career as a pop star and actress.
In the past, Lopez has starred in critically acclaimed films like 1998's "Out of Sight" opposite George Clooney and directed by Steven Soderbergh and "U-Turn" made by Oliver Stone.
And also absolute bloomers like "Gigli" opposite then boyfriend Ben Affleck, and "Enough". There have also been some moderate films like "The Wedding Planner" and "The Cell".
Lopez, who has platinum selling albums like On The 6 and Jlo, told IANS in an e-mailed interview that her sound in the album and the films reflect a new maturity in her career.
"In many ways, this feels like my first album as when I did my first album, I took a long break and then worked on it, it's the same with this album. I took a long vacation and worked on it. It represents a sound that is much more funk and a whole new level of maturity," said the pop superstar.
Often described as the sexiest woman in the world, Lopez has been criticized in the recent past for concentrating more on her various relationships than making music or movies.
But "Rebirth" is one album Lopez says she's worked real hard on.
"The one thing I wanted to do with this album was to get a lot of up tempo on it because that's how I was feeling. In the studio you end up writing other things as well, but there are some dance tracks on it. I wanted to incorporate funk into it," said Lopez.
"I had been listening to a lot of James Brown and horns and drums and it gave it a nice funk for this album."
The album also features a track with husband Marc Anthony.
"Marc is a through professional. He is great to work with. Sure, we'll work together again," said Lopez, who is also working on her first Spanish album.
"Right now, I'm also very excited about the release of my first Spanish album which I'm currently working on. It is my passion project."
She has had a series of failed relationships including the much touted ones like with actor Ben Affleck and rap mogul Sean P. Diddy Combs aka Puff Daddy.
But now, says Lopez, she is very settled with Salsa star Anthony. "I am definitely very happy at this stage in my life and feel very much at peace, whatever else comes along the way, I'll deal with it then."
Another change in her life has been that she now only wants to be known by her full name and not the popular "JLo".
"Yes, JLo is the name of my first album ... I have moved on from my first album," said the singer, who was once called "Guitar" because of her perfect contours.
"I want to be known by my name, which is Jennifer Lopez."

LOPEZ ATTACKED BY PROTESTORS AT HER RESTAURANT |
Animal activists made diners at JENNIFER LOPEZ's Pasadena, California, restaurant a little uneasy today (10MAR05) as they showed them images of animals skinned alive over lunch.
PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA) followers took their fur protests against Lopez to a new level by protesting outside Madre's.
They also paraded large posters of Lopez with the words "Fur Hag" attached and placards featuring images of orphaned animals and the caption "J.Lo: These Babies Miss Their Mother - Is She on Your Back?" as diners tried to eat lunch.
The activism was part of an ongoing campaign to shame Lopez for "promoting and profiting from the bloody fur industry."
Activists with body-screen TVs also used the Madre's protest to air the west coast debut of the first-ever video footage of fur farms in China, shot during a year-long undercover investigation.
The protest comes on the heels of the February (05) debut of Lopez's fur-laden SWEETFACE fashion collection, which has been panned by critics and animal rights activists alike.
A PETA spokesman says, "Lopez continues to pimp for the fur industry despite the fact that PETA has contacted her no less than a dozen times, pleading with her to stop supporting the horrific abuse of animals killed for their fur."
PETA have just launched an anti-J.Lo website JLODOWN.COM, which urges the Latina to stop wearing fur.

Jennifer in Japan |
Jennifer Lopez exposed her lack of world knowledge during a recent trip to Japan to promote her movie SHALL WE DANCE - by failing to recognize the name of the Japanese prime minister.
The superstar was grilled by local reporters keen for her thoughts about the film, a remake of 1996 Japanese movie SHALL WE DANCE?, in which she appears alongside RICHARD GERE.
According to the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, journalists were amused by Gere's resemblance to Japanese premier JUNICHIRO KOIZUMI - a comment that left J.Lo blank-faced.
When someone explained who Koizumi is, Lopez responded, "Really, I'm sorry. That's so funny"

Jennifer Lopez Belts It Out in Rockefeller Center |
March 3, 2005 - NEW YORK - As part of NBC’s concert series in Rockefeller Center, Jennifer Lopez performed during the NBC "Today" show this Thursday morning, belting out a track or two from her new album "Rebirth."
Lopez is on a full New York blitz with sightings and signings all around, including a stop at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square on Wednesday. "Rebirth" is available in stores now.

LOPEZ SHOWS OFF STOMACH TO SILENCE BABY RUMOURS |
Jennifer Lopez has slammed reports she is pregnant - by baring her washboard-flat stomach on live TV.
The 35-year-old Latina beauty showed off her tummy on NBC's TODAY SHOW in New York yesterday (03MAR05) to silence the continual speculation she is expecting her first child with third husband MARC ANTHONY.
Lopez says, "I think I've been pregnant about 17 times.
"I'm trying to keep that part of my life very personal."

Lopez Tries to Put Focus Back on Music |
NEW YORK - While other celebrities have taken pains to keep their public life under wraps, Jennifer Lopez always seemed to relish the white-hot spotlight.
Today, though, as Lopez promotes her fashion line and new album, "Rebirth," she's sticking by a new mantra — keep her private life private.
1 hits and enjoyed box-office success with movies such as "Maid in Manhattan" as the public became more interested in J.Lo, or Jenny From the Block — the woman dating and breaking up with P. Diddy, embarking on another quickie marriage or setting fashion trends with her awards show attire.
But her image started to suffer in 2003, when Lopez was in the midst of a very public romance with Affleck — the "Bennifer" pairing was that year's Brad-and-Jen frenzy. The couple's overexposure, followed by the and the release of their bomb "Gigli," drew both more scorn than anything. Though the couple split and Lopez later married Anthony — her third husband — the sting from the tabloid attention still lingers.
"I think it got really loud for a minute for me, and it became not about my work anymore. And the reason why I was in the public eye to begin with is because I was in movies, I was making records," she said. "And all of the sudden it wasn't anything about that. And I didn't want it to be about anything else but that."
Lopez — who has released five movies and three albums in the past three years — also felt like she was jamming out projects instead of spending time to reflect on what was right for her.
Lopez made sure her fourth studio album, "Rebirth," didn't suffer from those circumstances. The star spent several months on it and had a greater role in its production — which boosted her confidence.
Lopez has taken her share of criticism over the years — from her feather-light voice to even her acting abilities.
But as far as her personal life — she's playing it safe.
"I used to be the kind of person who would talk about a lot of things, but as I've matured I've realized that's not the best way to go," she said. "You have to set boundaries ... you have to protect what's sacred to you."

Lopez Surprised at Chance for 'Rebirth' |
NEW YORK - Six years after breaking into the music business with "On the 6," Jennifer Lopez is still amazed she has a recording career.
"I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would even be doing this this long. I mean, you just feel lucky to make one record in this business," the 35-year-old singer and actress told Associated Press TV.
Lopez sees her fifth album, "Rebirth," as a new chapter in her life.
"I really feel like this is kind of like phase two, the beginning of a different phase for me. You know, I made my first album and I did a bunch of movie projects and four albums — I never stopped," she said.
Lopez capped this busy period — which included a hectic personal life that included her second marriage and divorce and high-profile relationships with P. Diddy and Ben Affleck — by taking several months off before restarting her career in recent weeks.
The career relaunch has drawn mixed reviews. New York Fashion Week's discerning crowds cheered her clothing label's first show in February, but days later she got a chilly response to her duet with husband Marc Anthony at the Grammy Awards.
But Lopez said she feels rejuvenated by diving into work after a period of rest.
"I felt like the same girl. You know what happens when you take time off? You kind of get back to who you were."

LOPEZ IGNORES FEARS OVER HER TOUR WITH ANTHONY
Latina beauty JENNIFER LOPEZ has shrugged off warnings a joint world tour with husband MARC ANTHONY could damage her career.
Salsa star Anthony, who married the glamorous JENNY FROM THE BLOCK singer last June (04), is thrilled about the shows because he'll be performing to crowds far larger than he's used to - thanks to his wife's widespread appeal.
However, Lopez's aides reportedly fear her decision to tour with Anthony may confuse - and possibly alienate - fans.
A source tells Britain's OK! magazine, "She's been trying to see if it's the right thing. Jen's people have advised her not to because it's bad for her career. She's too mainstream to tour with him. He needs her but she doesn't need him."

LOPEZ NEEDS A MAN TO STAND UP TO HER
JENNIFER LOPEZ's marriage to MARC ANTHONY is destined to last because the Latino singer stands up to her and bosses her around.
The JENNY FROM THE BLOCK star was able to control former lover BEN AFFLECK's every movement, according to her close friend MARISSA THOMPSON, and that is why their 19-month relationship failed.
But Thompson is confident Lopez's third marriage will be successful - because Anthony is exactly the kind of strong man she needs to keep her happy.
She says, "Marc tries to tell her what to say, what to wear, how to be... She likes being told what to do. Ben was weak in that regard. She could run roughshod all over him.
"She wants her man to be a man... but that doesn't mean she won't push him to see how far she can go with him."

LOPEZ CHALLENGERS FUR PROTESTORS
LATEST: JENNIFER LOPEZ met animal rights protesters head on at a record signing in New York yesterday - by wearing a fox fur poncho.
Volunteers from PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA) camped outside Virgin Records store in Times Square, Manhattan on Tuesday (01MAR05) to protest J.Lo's use of animal skins in music videos and fur content in her new fashion line SWEETFACE.
But the sexy superstar defiantly waved to protestors and fans assembled outside the store and cheerily waved as she entered the store wearing the accessory, which was lined with fox fur.
DAWN CARR, a PETA director, insists the group will continue to campaign against Lopez: "She is our latest target. We have sent her dozens of letters and DVDs to try to show her why the fur trade is so evil but she has ignored us.
"The amount of fur J.Lo has worn recently and now uses in her clothing line , shows he is blind to the horrific cruelty of the fur industry."

J. Lo Rebirth's Stirs Controversy |
From Much Music :
Jennifer officially left J.Lo behind on Tuesday with the launch of her new album "Rebirth". Diehard Jennifer Lopez fans camped out in the snow of Times Square for more than 24 hours to meet their idol and have her sign copies of the new disc. But it wasn't all cheers for the actress/singer/fashion designer. PETA was on hand to protest Lopez' use of fur in her new Sweetface Spring collection. The animal rights group gave out copies of a DVD, which shows images of the fur-wearing singer interspersed with footage of animals skinned alive for their fur. Lopez was greeted with signs reading "Jennifer Lopez: Fur Scum".

Jennifer Lopez Various Newsbits |
Jennifer Lopez Newsbits:
Cowell had designs on J-Lo's house
Simon Cowell has more in common with Jennifer Lopez than just tightly-stretched clothing.
The Pop Idol grump tried to buy the Hollywood diva's Los Angeles mansion and went so far as to have a tour of the rambling house.
When it sold to somebody else, Cowell supposedly called J-Lo and asked for the number of her interior designer.
Cowell was so impressed with the beige and wood decor in her bedroom he wanted a similar style for the home he bought close to the California studio where he is currently shooting the US version of his hit franchise, American Idol.
Lopez, meanwhile, has emerged from her newly-wed cocoon with husband Marc Anthony to launch a promotional blitz for Rebirth, her new CD, which was released on Tuesday in the US.

J.Lo deal with Medina is off again
Jennifer Lopez's plans to reunite with her former manager Benny Medina have collapsed.
The pair agreed to reteam last week two years after their acrimonious split - but the deal is off again.
A source explains to website Pagesix.com: "It was a handshake deal, but when it came down to signing contracts on Friday, they decided to remain friends."
The source claims J.Lo was unhappy to share a manager with chart rival and longtime foe Mariah Carey.

LOPEZ: I DON'T WANT TO BE MERYL STREEP
Jennifer Lopez has refused to quit her singing career - even though studio bosses believe she has the potential to be the next MERYL STREEP if she concentrated solely on acting.
The JENNY FROM THE BLOCK beauty has no regrets about starring in box office flop GIGLI alongside former fiance BEN AFFLECK, because she insists on being true to herself and would feel fake following in the OUT OF AFRICA star's footsteps.
The 35-year-old says, "I've done movies that are not great and are successful. I've done movies that are great and are not successful. The movie business is very unpredictable.
"I don't have any regrets at all. I think there are some great scenes in that movie. And it didn't get a fair chance. I've had studio heads who believe in me say, 'Just be an actress, you're an incredible actress, you can be Meryl Streep,' and I say, 'I've got to be me.'
"I can't stop singing so people take me seriously as an actress. I'm an actress. You either take me seriously or you don't. I'm sorry if people think I do too many things. But I would be miserable if I couldn't do all of these things. I just have to be me."

PETA Is Targeting J. Lo Over Fur Use |
Jennifer Lopez is now "enemy number one" for PETA, which plans to target the singer in a new campaign since her clothing line Sweetface uses so much fur. Animal-rights activists planned to storm her Times Square record singing at Virgin Records on Tuesday (March 1) by showing film footage of animals being skinned alive juxtaposed with images of J. Lo dressed in fur in her latest video. The footage was shot during an investigation of fur farms in China. "There is nothing remotely 'sweet' about the torture deaths of animals killed for fur," PETA's Dan Mathews said in a statement.
