According to Contact Music Jessica Simpson is full of admiration for Jennifer Lopez and considers the actress the biggest beauty in entertainment.

to distribute beach umbrellas in South Beach, Florida. The umbrellas will

Apparently Ja RULE is not a fan of his latest big screen role in the forthcoming JENNIFER LOPEZ film SHALL WE DANCE?

Preparations are under way at the American Airlines Arena for this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.
Cutouts of the stars, including Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, P. Diddy and Paris Hilton, mark the spots where the celebrities will sit. Many of them will be arriving by boat, so local law enforcement is busy at work to make sure it's smooth sailing. Starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, the Coast Guard will activate a temporary security zone in several downtown Miami waterways.

It covers the parade route from near Causeway Island south into the Port of Miami's main channel and finally toward the arena.

Miami police are also focusing on security inside the arena.

"We're preparing for the sheer star power that's going to be inside the arena. We're making sure that everything in there is covered," said Delrish Moss of the Miami Police Department. "The other thing that we're expecting is the fact that there are going to be hundreds, thousands of gawkers on the other side. We want to make sure everything is safe. So, there is going to be a barrier there."

Tuesday night MTV crews were building the massive sets that will fill the stage.

It's late afternoon on a balmy L.A. day and Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez are having a catfight.

"Ughhh! Get off me!" Lopez shrieks. Fonda does just the opposite.
Finally, the two fall to the floor with a thud.
A beat.
Then: That famous Fonda laugh. Deep, throaty.
It's just a movie.
Fonda and Lopez are filming "Monster-in-Law," which is being helmed by Aussie director Robert Luketic, on the Culver Studios lot. In the film, Fonda plays Viola Fields, a broadcast newswoman and mother thrown into turmoil when her television show is cancelled.
Lopez plays Charlie -- short for Charlotte -- a fledgling fashion designer who has growth written all over her. ("Charlie is faced with the challenge of pushing beyond her personal limitations and boundaries," read the production notes.) She also happens to be engaged to Viola's son, which is where the monster part -- and the fun -- begins.
The film is Luketic's third Hollywood feature after 2001's "Legally Blonde" and this year's "Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!" and his first with a high eight-figure budget.
"I feel grown up," the 33 year old says of being given the reins to "Monster-in-Law," which he characterizes as being in the $60 million range. ("Legally Blonde" was made for $17 million.)
"Monster-in-Law" is also Fonda's first movie in 15 years. She was last seen in 1990's "Stanley and Iris" opposite Robert De Niro , before retiring into a mix of trophy wifedom and philanthropic activism with then-husband Ted Turner in 1991. For her part, Lopez is coming off the train wreck that was "Gigli," and "Jersey Girl."
In other words, all three need a hit, which could have added an extra burden to proceedings already marked by rumors of diva-like behavior from the two stars off-screen.
"I can honestly say to you, on the record and off the record, it never existed," Luketic says.
Fonda disputes the rumors herself several days later via cellphone. "Jennifer and I got along very well," she says. "She's a very smart and talented woman. ... We have something in common in the sense that I wasn't just about movies: I produced and had the workout business and I had politics, and she has movies and music and clothes. Maybe she can be (a diva), but she wasn't on this film."
On the set, matters are less clear-cut. Luketic stays remarkably relaxed as Fonda yells from the room where the cat fight is taking place, "You're getting what you need, right?!"
Suddenly, she appears next to him and watches the playback herself. Up close and in a nearly-backless dress, she is remarkably trim and fit -- a Platonic ideal of her 66 years, and looking nearly 20 years younger. "What was wrong with that?" she asks.
Luketic follows her back into the set room, and confers with his actress. The next time around, the take is short -- and Luketic jumps up with delight. Chris Bender, whose company Benderspink is one of the producers of the film, smiles and explains that such enthusiasm is a Luketic trademark. "Usually, he springs up, practically does a back flip," Bender says.

Lopez soon appears and checks out the monitor herself. "She must be cranky, 'cause I'm cranky," the multi-hyphenate says of her co-star.
When a wardrobe attendant tries to undo a button on the back of Lopez's dress, the actress reaches back only to have her hand gently patted away. "Can't I scratch myself?" she snaps. Moments later, Lopez walks back to the set and the woman scrambles to hold her dress up off the floor.
If Lopez has been a tabloid lover's dream as of late, the return of Fonda -- a two-time Oscar winner and the bluest of Hollywood bluebloods -- has emerged as this project's calling card.
"I had no desire (to return)," Fonda says of Hollywood. "I didn't miss it. But I am a very different person than I was 15 years ago, and I was curious about how that would translate to the screen."
While she had been offered other roles, Fonda says she "wanted to do a comedy," citing 1977's "Fun With Dick and Jane" as another light picture that was successful at a crucial point in her career.
One might conjecture that Viola's predicament also is on point for Fonda, who separated from Turner in 2001.
Paula Weinstein, another of the film's producers and a friend who's known the actress since they met as fellow protesters at the Republican National Convention in 1972, explains her character: "She's playing a successful woman at a moment in her life when the outside world is no longer paying all of its attention to her. She's letting go of everything."
Fonda seems to be in the mood to move forward, and have a good time while she's at it. "I don't want to work if it's not fun," she says at one point. Indeed, she could be talking about her life aims as much as the film when she says of life on "Monster-in-Law's" set, "It was fabulous fun. ... It was kind of like playing in a sand box."
The actress is cagey, however, about any plans. "I'm not thinking in terms of trying to rebuild a movie career," she says. "I don't want to make a whole lot of movies."
The actress notes she is penning her memoirs for Random House, which will keep her busy for the next year anyway. "But then again, I didn't think I'd do another movie again (before 'Monster-in-Law')," she says.

According to Contact Music this fall Jennifer Lopez will team up with Beyonce Knowles and soccer great David Beckham for a Pepsi commercial to be filmed in Mexico. The commercial is expected to make its debut at the 2005 Super Bowl.

Jennifer Lopez is expected to appear in a series of public service announcements which will air on Telemundo (Spanish-language Cable TV Network) and NBC. The commercials will be aimed at America's Latin population and encouraging her fellow Hispanics to vote in November 2004's tense political race.

Jennifer Lopez is returning to "Will & Grace" for the season premiere. She's reprising her role as, well, herself, from a story line that originated last May as the season concluded with the singer bumping into Karen (Megan Mullally) in Las Vegas and agreeing to sing at her wedding. Now, J. Lo returns in the episode "FYI: I Hurt, Too," airing September 16, after completing a fictional summer tour, along with her pal Jack (Sean Hayes), who accompanied her as a backup dancer. Though Lopez is trying to relax, Karen tries to get Jack to help her get the singer's attention for her newly written song, "I Hurt, Too." Jack will continue his backup-dancer career in the season's second episode, when Janet Jackson guest stars.

In Oxnard, California a five year old little girl named Serena Castanon lived out her dream thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Jennifer Lopez. Her dream to sing and dance with J.Lo came true.
Serena Castanon has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common type of childhood cancer, and wanted to meet Jennifer Lopez. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties made it happen.

"Make-A-Wish helps make dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses come true. Before visiting Lopez earlier this summer, Serena was treated to a beauty makeover at the Savvy Salon and Spa in Thousand Oaks."

"When Serena gave me a hug afterwards, my heart flipped. I thought she was so cute when she puckered up her lips and primped in the mirror," makeup artist Patty Castaneda said.

Serena then rode in a limousine to Hollywood to meet with Lopez on the set of the upcoming movie "Monster-in-Law."

"Serena had a chance to sing and dance with Ms. Lopez," her mother said. "They talked about her day at the spa and (Serena) showed her the daisies on her nails. I haven't seen Serena smile so much for such a long time.

"I think this experience will stay with my daughter for the rest of her life."

While this may be a rumor Page Six and Contact Music both released stories saying that Jennifer Lopez enraged bosses at the E! Network by reneging on a deal to film an interview for the cable network.

"Producers originally wanted J.Lo to feature in one of their E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY shows, but were forced to rethink the format when the JENNY FROM THE BLOCK star expressed fears about the inquisitive nature of the program.

E! chiefs responded by promising to reduce the coverage of their Lopez-related news on the station, but were left stunned when the sexy Latina's representatives called to cancel the interview, according to website PAGESIX.COM.

A source says, "Jennifer cut a deal with E! that if they laid off her, she would give them an exclusive interview - her and her family members.

"E! agreed to stop the True Hollywood Story and cut down rotation on any other E! shows that had (negative) information about her like, (E! show) IT'S GOOD TO BE..."

But E! executives were left fuming after learning J.Lo had pulled out of the special, which she was due to be filmed on Monday (Aug. 16th). "

Lopez's New York representative, Leslie Sloane Zelnick at BWR, has hit back at the controversy sparked by Lopez, saying, "This deal was made by her old PR team. We are not big proponents of cutting deals. We have been going back and forth with E! about a two-hour special."

As most of you know it was reported on this site on July 9th that a charity event given in Ms. Lopez's honor will be held at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, with husband Marc Anthony as one of the performing guests, but Jennifer's giving doesn't stop there.
For her recent 35th birthday, the sexy star asked well-wishers to give cash to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

Earlier this week Jennifer's music producer, Corey Rooney, had a bit of an issue with husband Marc Anthony's prescence, claiming he was distracting her during recording and even requesting him to leave the studio.

A source says, "Jennifer and Corey really got into it big-time. Corey told Jen's people that Marc Anthony should stay out of the studio as he's distracting her.

"But J.Lo was having none of it and in the end Corey left after being told in no uncertain terms that Marc was staying. Considering he's done so much work with her in the past, it's not good for them to be falling out with each other."

Superstar Jennifer Lopez has a secret dirty habit - she smokes cigars.

A worker who tended to the singer and her mother GUADALUPE at New York's Hotel Peninsula in January (04) slammed rumours of J.Lo's diva behaviour - but let slip her fondness for smoking.

The porter, known only as Raul, stumbled upon a smoking J.Lo after being called to her suite to show her how to watch taped episodes of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy she had requested.

He tells American website PageSix.com, "We also received a FedEx package that day as well so I went with it to her room. She opened it and pulled a large really nice wooden box that she put on the coffee table.

"I asked her if it wasn't a bit dangerous to FedEx her jewelery box like that and she looked at me and went 'My jewelery box? Are you crazy?' and started laughing and went 'no no, it's not my jewelery box thank God, it's my travel humidor' and she opened it to show me. In it was about a dozen large cigars.

"She took one out, asked me if I wanted one, which I declined" and began "puffing on her cigar" while Raul fixed the VCR.

Raul was thrilled when he left the suite - Lopez gave him a $100 tip.

Jennifer is once again scheduled to appear on MTV's Video Music Awards and this time it looks set in stone. The awards air on Sunday, August 29th on MTV.

The biggest names in Latin show business, fashion, and sports will be honored on the first annual "Premios Juventud" (Youth Awards). The electrifying 2-hour entertainment special will be broadcast from Miami, the party capital of the world. It will air live on the Univision Network (NYSE:UVN) on Thursday, September 23 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT (8-10 p.m. Central/Mountain).

Recognizing popularity and overall appreciation in five distinct areas - Film, Music, Sports, Fashion and Pop Culture - the "Premios Juventud" nominees were selected based on a nationwide poll conducted among a representative sample of Spanish-language television's younger viewing audience. From August 2-22, Hispanic America will then cast their votes online and determine the final outcome.

Far from your typical award show, "Premios Juventud" will give awards in 22 unconventional categories in tune with today's Hispanic youth. It's one young party no one will want to miss. Marc Anthony and Thalia lead with 13 nominations each; Anthony competes in categories such as "CD to Die For" and "He's Got Style" and Thalia in "She's Totally Red Carpet" and "My Idol Is," among others. Jennifer Lopez follows with 12 nods in categories such as "Show Stealing Actress" and "Dream Chick." Other multiple nominees include Luis Miguel with 11 nominations and Paulina Rubio and Ricky Martin with 9 each.
