JLo's Ballroom Blitz

From IMDB:

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez can add ballroom dancing to her impressive resume, after taking notes on the set of new movie Shall We Dance? Rather than just turning up and going through the motions with co-star Richard Gere, J.Lo brought her notepad along so she should really learn the new skill. She says, "Just being able to come to work every day and dance is a wonderful experience. We had the top ballroom dancers in the world working on this, so I didn't step on anybody's toes. I was like, 'Teach me, teach me.' I learned a lot." One thing Lopez found out in making the film was just how hard Gere works to nail a part, especially when it involves dancing. She adds, "I was on the last movie and people were telling me, 'Richard's rehearsing eight hours a day, every single day,' and I was like, 'We don't shoot for another four months!'" Gere admits his new co-star, who plays his dance teacher in the film, was incredibly patient with him. He says, "This very intense tango with Jennifer required an enormous amount of generosity and grace from her side."

Was JLo going to kiss Madonna?

Evidently Jennifer was supposed to be in the performance with Madonna at the VMAs in which Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot, and Madonna all sang together...and a little more.

As you can see in the above pictures, Madonna had quite the kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Was Jennifer going to kiss Madonna? Hmm....

No JLo on Billboard

No JLo on the next issue of Billboard, but I'll keep doing the one year history. Last year on this issue date, "I'm Gonna Be Alright," Jennifer Lopez Featuring Nas, kept its #21 position from the previous week.

Billboard: Jen Missing

This has been the first week in a long time that Jennifer Lopez is not to be seen on any Billboard chart. For the issue date August 30th, Jennifer is nowhere to be found.

A year ago..."I'm Gonna Be Alright" was #21 dropping from #18 the previous week.

Affleck: Jen & I Aren't the New Penn & Madonna

From IMDB:

Movie hunk Ben Affleck is determined to prove that he and fiancee Jennifer Lopez aren't the new Madonna and Sean Penn by making their marriage work. Affleck was a teenager when Madonna wed Penn and then suffered a critical mauling over Shanghai Surprise, the film they made together - and he remembers every article about the couple's split. He and girlfriend J.Lo have been critically attacked for their flop Gigli, but he's determined to move on and not dwell on the bad reviews. Affleck says, "I understand what happens. I made that agreement when I became an actor. Sean Penn was married to Madonna when I was 15 years old, and I was aware that the media got crazy about stuff like that. I didn't think I'd ever become that person, but I can't say that I was duped, or tricked or didn't know that there was this side of the media. If you let it get to you it can ruin everything."

Rumor Mill: J.Lo Pulls Out of Power Pop Performance with Britney & Madonna

Jennifer Lopez has been forced to pull out of the power performance at the MTV Video Music Awards because her new movie won't have wrapped in time. J.Lo was hoping to join new pals Madonna and Britney Spears for a rendition of "Like A Virgin," but filming of her new project Shall We Dance? in Canada has overrun, and she's having to sit the big show out. Shall We Dance? which also features Richard Gere, should have wrapped last week, but an extra week of shoots in Winnipeg, Canada, has been added. MTV bosses are still expecting Britney and Madonna to take the stage together on Thursday night.

Billboard and Misc. News

Jennifer Lopez's last single, "I'm Glad," has officially departed from the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Already near the bottom, a bunch of new songs debuted, pushing it off. Jennifer Lopez is also on no other Billboard charts. Perhaps this next song, "Baby I Love You," will make an appearance onto the Hot 100 soon!

And continuing with the Billboard history, one year ago, "I'm Gonna Be Alright" with Nas was #18 on the Hot 100 (down from #15 the previous week).

Also, stay tuned to the web site in the next few days! We're planning a nice update soon!

JLo Billboard News Bits

"I'm Glad" continues to stay on the Hot 100 for a 16th week, rising from #95 to #94 this week! Once again, however, she is missing from the other charts for the issue date August 16, 2003.

One year ago, "I'm Gonna Be Alright" ft. Nas was #15, down from #13 the previous week on the Hot 100.

J. Lo, Britney Considering TV Talk Shows

From Billboard.com...

Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears may soon be competing on television as well as the pop charts. Both are kicking around the idea of launching syndicated talk shows that would begin airing in fall 2004, according to experts in that market.

Gigli Bombs

At the Movies: 'Gigli'
By CHRISTY LEMIRE
The Associated Press

Perhaps it's when he says, in an attempt to seduce her, "I'm the bull, you're the cow." Or when she beckons him into foreplay by lying back in bed and purring, "Gobble, gobble" - which could forever change the way you view your Thanksgiving turkey. But as pop star vehicles go, "Gigli" isn't as insufferable as, say, last year's Madonna-Guy Ritchie debacle, "Swept Away." It's more on par with Mariah Carey's "Glitter" and Britney Spears' "Crossroads." If this were a movie starring two B-list actors, or two complete unknowns, it probably would have gone straight to video. After curious masochists and J.Lo fans check it out the first weekend, "Gigli" probably will have a drop-off in audience that rivals "The Hulk" - 70 percent - then go to video. And with the release next spring of Kevin Smith's "Jersey Girl," in which they also co-star, we can have this little conversation all over again.

"The One" Remix news bit

The "The One" remix we posted a few days ago is supposedly also going to be the song used for the upcoming music video! If you haven't heard the song yet, go download it today!

Weekend Box Office Results

This weekend showed a bad opening for Gigli, which brought in a mere $3.8 million. The movie's R rating did not help it any either, since that limits the audience who may watch it - especially teenagers. The top ten list is as follows, with Gigli tying for #7:

1. "American Wedding," $34.3 million
2. "Spy Kids 3D: Game Over," $20.1 million
3. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,' $19.1 million
4. 'Seabiscuit' $17.5 million
5. "Bad Boys II," $12.7 million
6. 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider,' $11.3 million
7. (tie) 'Finding Nemo,' $3.8 million
7. (tie) 'Gigli,' $3.8 million
9. 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,' $3.2 million
10. 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,' $2.9 million

The second sequel to "American Pie" was #1 this weekend, bringing in $34.3 million.
