Montreal R&B singer and producer Karl Wolf has been picked to open for Jennifer Lopez at her upcoming concert in the Middle East.

Wolf, whose debut solo CD Face Behind the Face was released in Canada in February, will warm up the crowd at the Dubai Autodrome on April 27. His CD will be released in the Middle East three days earlier.

“I'm so psyched to do this show with J-LO,” Wolf said in a release issued on Wednesday. “This is the opportunity of a lifetime. 20,000 people! I'm gonna rep Canada to the fullest.”

Wolf’s single “Desensitize” – which features rapper Choclair – is currently climbing the Canadian charts. He plans to tour across the country this summer and will headline World Vision’s Raise Your Voice event at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland near Toronto on May 7.

The 26-year-old music veteran wrote and produced all the songs on Face Behind The Face and played virtually all of the instruments. He said there are hints of his own Middle Eastern background on some tracks.

Wolf, who was just three years old when his family fled their native Lebanon, wrote and co-produced Etc, Gabrielle Destroismaisons’ 2001 hit album and he had two singles reach #1 on the BDS Francophone charts. He has also worked with French Canadian artists like Mitsou, Emily and Jerome-Philippe.

Wolf took over as lead singer of Canadian pop act Sky in 2002 and collaborated on two top-selling Star Academie compilation CDs. He earned a SOCAN Award for Most Popular Song for writing “Je veux changer le monde."
