Lopez’s Latin Staying Power

Bronx, NY (PRWEB) February 21, 2006 — The influence of Latin music into mainstream music has been hard to ignore. In particular, the explosion of reggatone with artists such as Daddy Yankee and Don Omar are creating quite a buzz.

“Artists like Daddy Yankee and Don Omar have videos getting airplay on MTV, companies are licensing songs and images of artists to represent them in advertisements to connect with the youth, and the general buzz surrounding the music is growing more deafening by the day,” said Amen from LatinRapper.com.

During the late 1990s, Latin music exploded into the mainstream thanks to artists like Ricky Martin with the popular, “Living la Vida Loca.” Other artists include Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias.

Today, the influence of Latin music can be seen in a broad spectrum of sounds. From Rock en espanol (groups like Mana, Santana and artists like Shakira) to Latin hip-hop artists like Jennifer Lopez and Big Pun, to salsa and merengue crossover artists like Marc Anthony.
