Affleck case dropped

Friday, October 31st, 2003

The crazy woman who claimed Ben Affleck threatened to kill her has stepped down from her allegations:

From IMDB:

The woman who forced police to issue an arrest warrant for Ben Affleck has backed down in her bid to disgrace the movie star – and she even hopes he finds true happiness with Jennifer Lopez. Tara Ray claimed Affleck threatened to kill her after they had an affair and issued a criminal complaint against the actor earlier this month. But police have since dropped the arrest warrant against him, and Ray seems less than keen to take her outrageous claims any further. In an email she wrote to American tabloid National Enquirer, Ray says, “Maybe marrying Jennifer is the best thing he can do. He’s under a great deal of stress. Anyone can see that.” Ray goes on to say the arrest warrant for Affleck was dropped when police couldn’t contact her after she left Kure Beach in North Carolina. She adds, “I’ve lost 16 pounds in the past two months, I was on the edge of having a mental breakdown. He’s (Affleck) not the man I grew to care about at all. I hate that this whole situation has went (sic) too far as it has. I want him to straighten himself out.”

Eloping?

Monday, October 27th, 2003

From IMDB:

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly planning to sneak away for a secret wedding at the actor’s island retreat in Georgia, America. The celebrity couple have kept the world on tenterhooks since calling off their $2 million California marriage at the last minute last month. Affleck was reportedly unhappy with plans for a spectacular ceremony, preferring an exclusive ‘friends and family’ bash in private – and it seems he may have got his wish. A source close to the couple tells American magazine Us Weekly, “They are in love and want to get married sooner rather than later. They will slip off and do something quite discreet.” Meanwhile, other evidence seems to point towards an impending event – another American tabloid spotted J.Lo buying matching his-and-her diamond bracelets at a jewelers in Las Vegas at the weekend at a cost of around $1 million. Local Las Vegas newspapers also claim she splashed out on a $3,000 Roberto Cavalli dress and a $10,000 Versace gown during her stay in Vegas.

Talk about a run-around with all these stories!

Ben’s ‘word’ for JLo…

Friday, October 17th, 2003

While accepting an award from the People for the American Way Foundation, Ben used an interesting word for JLo:

“I only accept it in the hopes that the absurd amounts of publicity that I received lately, that as far as I can tell is chiefly because I have a pretty girlfriend, that’s what I did, I am a champion of the American way with a pretty girlfriend — bring it on, paparazzi, news at 11 — in the hopes that some of that publicity might be pointed at something more significant, something more positive, productive and meaningful.”

So…are they, or are they not together?

Ben and Jen removed from ‘Jersey Girl’ ads

Thursday, October 9th, 2003

Ben and Jennifer have reportedly been removed from posters of ‘Jersey Girl,’ their next movie together, to set aside any negativity that may have carried over from ‘Gigli.’

Full IMDB text:

Images of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been scrapped from posters of their upcoming movie Jersey Girl – to give it a better chance of box office success. Producers of the film have reportedly advised their advertising and marketing teams not to include either of the stars’ faces on any of Jersey Girl’s promotional material after seeing the dismal performance of the on-off couple’s summer flop Gigli. A source tells American magazine Us Weekly, “After Gigli, (Miramax) doesn’t want to take any chances with another laughing stock flop. They’re going to promote this as a (director) Kevin Smith movie. It’s going to be about Kevin.”

Affleck Charges Dropped

Thursday, October 9th, 2003

Apparently some random woman recently filed charges against Ben Affleck claiming they were in a relationship since February of last year and he threatened to kill her. A warrant was issued but the charges have since then been dropped. Perfect timing, isn’t it?

Full IMDB article:

Charges against actor Ben Affleck have been dropped after no evidence could be found that he threatened to kill a woman who claims she is his girlfriend. A warrant was issued for the star’s arrest on Saturday after Tara Ray, who claims she has been in a relationship with Affleck since February last year, accused him of threatening her during a phone conversation last month, before following her to her North Carolina home. But New Hanover County District Attorney John Carriker has dismissed the warrant after police failed to contact Ray, or prove the incident took place. Carriker says, “This is a very good example of why people shouldn’t be able to take out a warrant without any kind of police investigation.” Affleck’s representative insists the actor was at his Georgia home at the time.

E-mail backlog

Thursday, October 9th, 2003

We’re still sorting through the 2000 e-mails. It’s down to about 1000 now though. We will get back to you though if you have e-mailed us. Believe it or not, but we get roughly 250 e-mails a day, and of course 90% of being spam. So hang tight for now!
